Hi Everyone.
I have type 2 and know nothing about it.Can someone help me on how to eat well and at the right time. Also when do you know if you have your suga leavels high or low?
Hopefully your doctor has given you a glucometer to start testing your blood glucose. He will tell you when to test and what the goal numbers are. Fasting ( first thing in the morning) should be between 90-130 mg/dl. Your diet should be controlled in carbohydrate. Don't drink sweetened beverages and pass on desserts to get your weight and blood glucose in line. Consider the Plate diet. Half your plate low cal veggies, one quarter lean protein ( meat, chicken, fish, etc) and one quarter starch ( limit to 1 cup of rice, pasta, potatoes or 2 slices of bread.) This is a rough guide, but a registered dietitian can be more specific. Check out out site and watch the videos for more information.
