The Future Of Health Insurance For Type 2 Diabetes?

One of the nation`s largest health insurers, UnitedHealth Group, is forming a union with the Y.M.C.A. and retail pharmacies, reports The New York Times, to try a new way to tackle type 2 diabetes.

So, how will this consortium pool its resources to pull this off?

The Times says, "Rather than simply continuing to pay ever-higher medical claims to care for its diabetic customers, UnitedHealth is paying the Y.M.C.A. and pharmacists to keep people healthier. The result, they hope, will be lower costs and lower premiums for everyone."
