Heart Implant Loop Detector's Effect On Glucose LevelsI

  • BridgeMan ORIGINAL POSTER
I've been Type 1 diabetic since 1962, taking insulin since then. I just had a loop implant detector placed today in my chest. Since the procedure, my blood sugars have all been well over 300 mg/d.L, despite taking huge amounts of quick-acting lispro insulin. The 3 injections today since the procedure totaled more than 120 units, and still I'm in the 300s. Should I consider having the loop detector removed? I don't think being in the 300s is healthy, as I usually am reasonably well-controlled (last A1C was 6.8%). Michael Kober, P.E.

Hello Michael Kober, Is your loop detector for your heart? Talk to the doctor to see why your glucose levels are so high. Is there a problem with stress or infection? If you are on a basal insulin do you need to ask your doctor for an adjustment? Again, communicate with your medical team so they can help you. Please let us know how you make out.
