Viola Holmes, MS, RD, CDE is a registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator. She also has a certification in Adult Weight Management from the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics. Viola has worked at the University of Virginia Diabetes Education & Management Program since 2007, and provides individualized and group diabetes self-management education and medical nutrition therapy for adults. Viola is also on an interdisciplinary research team that focuses on providing diabetes education interventions to underserved populations. Additionally, Viola has a passion for community outreach and voluntarily shares her knowledge and skill to improve the health of those in her community. Prior to this position at UVA, Viola has had diverse work experiences, which include: acute care clinical dietitian, director of nutrition services, corporate consultant dietitian, research nutritionist, adjunct faculty, and family and consumer science extension agent.
