Diabetes, Driving & Teens

Diabetes does not put up a barrier to becoming a licensed driver. But hypoglycemia can interfere with driving, such that teens with diabetes might need a note from a doctor to confirm that his/her blood glucose is in balance. Make sure your teen checks his/her blood glucose before driving and eats a snack if needed.

No driver should drive if his/her blood glucose in not at least 100mg/dl. If on diabetic medicine, check blood glucose before driving.
