Hi...I am a new kind on the block ... Diabetes Type 2!
I do understand that, this is a progressive disorder and one or the other day, I will have to start with medication. Having said this, am more interested in knowing how to control and manage T2, so that I can avoid medication, as far as possible..!
Diabetes type 2 is a progressive disease but with education, one you can control. It depends on your blood glucose levels if you can control your diabetes without the use of medications (at least for awhile). Go to diabetescare.net's section on type 2 newly diagnosed found here:
http://www.diabetescare.net/About/NewlyDiagnosed/#.U1K0E_ldWSo. Ask your physician if you need medication or if you can manage through diet and exercise. Ask what exercises you can do or if you need a stress test before starting. With nutrition, ask if you can see a dietitian to set up a meal plan especially for you. Please let us know how you make out.
