Hi Everyone, I had an opportunity to interview Dr. Terri Lipman who developed the Philadelphia Pediatric Diabetes Registry. Her registry is the oldest and longest continuous pediatric diabetes registry in the United States. The registry reports new cases of type 1 in children in Philadelphia. Her data showed the type 1 incidence rate in children under five years old skyrocketed in a 20 year period in the city. She had some interesting insights including this idea that there needs to be a greater public awareness about type 1 diabetes for both parents and especially medical providers in considering the possibility of the disease when evaluating very young children. Read her story here.
