Shop the Perimeter
More than 60% of the calories we purchase at grocery stores are from highly processed foods, such as TV dinners, cookies, chips, soda, and candy. (1) The healthier foods are located on the outside aisles. The next time you go shopping, stick to the perimeter, and you will be able to choose more fruits, vegetables, lean meats, andlow fat dairy foods. Avoid the center aisles, which are filled with highly processed food.
